چکیده
Suppose G is a connected graph and T a spanning tree of G. A vertex v ∈ V (G) is said to be a degree-preserving vertex if its degree in T is the same as in G. The degree-preserving spanning tree problem is to find a spanning tree T of a connected graph G such that the number of degreepreserving vertices is maximum. The purpose of this paper is to give an O(mα(m,n))-time algorithm for the degree-preserving spanning tree problem on strongly chordal graphs and an O(m+ n)time algorithm on directed path graphs, where α is the inverse of Ackermann’s function.

On the Complexity of Some Variations of Y -Dominating Functions on Graphs
Let Y be a subset of real numbers. A Y dominating function of a graph G = (V, E) is a function f : V → Y such that u∈NG[v] f(u) ≥ 1 for all vertices v ∈ V , where NG[v] = {v} ∪ {u|(u, v) ∈ E}. Let f(S) = u∈S f(u) for any subset S of V and let f(V ) be the weight of f . The Y -domination problem is to find a Y -dominating function of minimum weight for a graph. In this paper, we study the variat...
متن کاملCounting the number of spanning trees of graphs
A spanning tree of graph G is a spanning subgraph of G that is a tree. In this paper, we focus our attention on (n,m) graphs, where m = n, n + 1, n + 2, n+3 and n + 4. We also determine some coefficients of the Laplacian characteristic polynomial of fullerene graphs.
متن کاملComplement of Special Chordal Graphs and Vertex Decomposability
In this paper, we introduce a subclass of chordal graphs which contains $d$-trees and show that their complement are vertex decomposable and so is shellable and sequentially Cohen-Macaulay.
متن کاملEccentricity approximating trees
Using the characteristic property of chordal graphs that they are the intersection graphs of subtrees of a tree, Erich Prisner showed that every chordal graph admits an eccentricity 2approximating spanning tree. That is, every chordal graph G has a spanning tree T such that eccT (v) − eccG(v) ≤ 2 for every vertex v, where eccG(v) (eccT (v)) is the eccentricity of a vertex v in G (in T , respect...
متن کاملTree Spanners on Chordal Graphs: Complexity, Algorithms, Open Problems
A tree t-spanner T in a graph G is a spanning tree of G such that the distance in T between every pair of vertices is at most t times their distance in G. The Tree t-Spanner problem asks whether a graph admits a tree t-spanner, given t. We substantially strengthen the hardness result of Cai and Corneil [SIAM J. Discrete Math. 8 (1995) 359– 387] by showing that, for any t ≥ 4, Tree t-Spanner is ...
